That's likely one of the deers in the park in Nara Japan

186

u/RegularWhiteShark Apr 01 '23

Bloody hell. Even their deers are polite and bow?

224

u/MigookinTeecha Apr 01 '23

Those deer will assault you if you aren't quick enough with the biscuits

77

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '23

I feel like it would be kind of an honor to get rekt by a polite deer because I failed to provide biscuits in a timely manner.

u/Soup_69420 Apr 02 '23

Giving me ideas for my trip to London…

(Waits outside palace with sleeve of crackers)

”Make way for the King’s guaaa—aahach… nom nom nom!"

6

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '23

🤣

51

u/Fleadip Apr 01 '23

My experience there was not this polite. The deer are matted and disgusting. They will eat the crackers by biting through your pockets. Nothing but giant rats. I recently saw the Japanese government has finally acknowledged the deer are pests and an actual problem. It’s cute for like 5 minutes.

46

u/u6ly_boy Apr 01 '23

Why you hoarding the crackers in your pocket is the real question

40

u/Fleadip Apr 01 '23

That’s something a Japanese deer might say.

u/wickedweeners Apr 02 '23

this unlocked an uncomfortable memory

3

u/fu_kaze Apr 02 '23

They were ramming into me! For real though, they look like zombie deer with all the missing patches of fur and attitude. I guess that’s what you get when your diet is mainly those sugar cookies.

1

u/NoPerception-_- Apr 02 '23

Theres also a nice disease they get that cause’s what you describe, its called Chronic Wasting Disease and is pretty nasty stuff.

8

u/Nodiggity1213 Apr 01 '23

Wisconsin deer in the winter will look you in the eye as your vehicle slides past them sideways like you were standing in their way!

22

u/kemar7856 Apr 01 '23

The deers are conditioned to bow for treats

7

u/SonofAMamaJama Kino Left Eye Apr 01 '23

It could also be a huge play fighting tease for the deer. The treat is nice but at some point just the tip won't do...

4

u/RegularWhiteShark Apr 01 '23

Yes, it was a joke.

3

u/CapsuleCorp0587 Apr 02 '23

This is in Nara! The bucks will assault you lol. Hide your treats because if they know you have them they’ll nudge you in the back lol. The doe are much calmer albeit more afraid unless you show them you have a snack for them but they all bow

u/kosmonautinVT Apr 01 '23

Here I am left disappointed after expecting the deer to heat butt with its antlers

u/ohhyouknow 👑 Publicfreakout Princess 👑 Apr 01 '23

You are mistaken, this is r/calminpublic. Check the sticky for more info and have an incredibly chill day.

To be a new, chill subreddit, absolutely. remain calm

6

u/spoopseason Apr 01 '23 edited Apr 01 '23

Thinkin' maybe these new calm post may need a new calm flair. Might help mitigate the r/woooosh moments.

edit: "Certified Chill" slaps, good job 👏

-13

u/Ya-Dikobraz Apr 01 '23

It's 2 April but OK.

9

u/FluidWitchty Apr 01 '23

Get back to your hemisphere rats! This is a westocentric empire!

1

u/m1neslayer Apr 02 '23

Are you German? Or near Germany

2

u/Ya-Dikobraz Apr 02 '23

Tasmania, so it's GMT+10 usually. I guess according to Reddit I fucked up.

1

u/Bruvva544 Apr 03 '23

It's actually April the 4th you fucking idiot

1

u/Ya-Dikobraz Apr 04 '23

What black magic is this? Am I cursed?

34

u/Desa0802 Apr 01 '23

Wrong sub

9

u/JoshieBravo Apr 01 '23

This is a Nara park deer and I was actually expecting a freakout. They are vicious and there are 250 deer attacks there a month. I have been personally attacked there and saw them harass others. Some even hiss and I have never seen deer behave that way before.

11

u/LANA888888 Apr 02 '23

This reindeer is really good, obviously trained well, but don't stick too close especially to it's horns, to avoid getting hurt.

2

u/inkiwitch Apr 02 '23

They aren’t trained, they learn that people give them treats when they bow so they pick it up from other deer.

I gave a fawn it’s first seed biscuit on a mountain in Nara and it was super skittish until it tried the cookie and then it flipped out and followed me for a bit. Little thing would have done anything for more.

You’re right though about the horns, they usually cut the horns down so people don’t get hurt. Deer can get aggressive when you run out of their favorite snack.

3

u/Slamhamwich Apr 01 '23

Hippogriff

7

u/glm0002 Apr 01 '23

At least she's hot

1

u/Sufficient_Mess_3688 Apr 01 '23

What I was thinking

4

u/ShankThatSnitch Apr 01 '23

2

u/The_Soup_Dealer Apr 02 '23

Buddy... Can you do me a favor and look at the date.

2

u/activeguy1986 Apr 02 '23

The deer thinks it's about to lock so horns together.

16

u/massiv_deuce Apr 01 '23

HOLY SHIT THAT IS ONE HELL OF A FREAKOUT IN PUBLIC!! thank you so much for posting this here, it really fits the sub and you’ve done such a great service by sharing this.

13

u/SMIDSY Apr 01 '23

FFS look what day it is

5

u/Lonelybiscuit07 Apr 01 '23

First we needed /s now we'll have to start flaging posts with 04/01

2

u/FluidWitchty Apr 01 '23

No we don't that ruins the whole joke. We just calmly stroke their hair, take them to the chair in the corner and make sure their glue bottle is full.

-8

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '23

6

u/SMIDSY Apr 01 '23

The sub theme changed to "calminpublic" for April Fools, so yeah it does.

4

u/Xzzzzz4213 Apr 01 '23

She's so cute, I was waiting for her to get hurt. Thank God it wasn't one of those kinda videos♥️.

2

u/SophiaPetrillo_ Apr 01 '23

Freak out?

4

u/The_Soup_Dealer Apr 02 '23

Check today's date

2

u/SophiaPetrillo_ Apr 02 '23

Damn. OP needs to stretch before they reach like that again.

-1

u/mattberry1980 Apr 01 '23

A calm greeting = a public freak out? 🧐

5

u/ohhyouknow 👑 Publicfreakout Princess 👑 Apr 01 '23

Read the stickied post and rules and take a chill pill.

-4

u/mattberry1980 Apr 01 '23

A chill pill? What I said was a freak out now? Lol

You guys are weird

3

u/ohhyouknow 👑 Publicfreakout Princess 👑 Apr 01 '23

Alls I’m saying is have a chill day 🥰

-6

u/mattberry1980 Apr 01 '23

1

u/ohhyouknow 👑 Publicfreakout Princess 👑 Apr 01 '23

One does not need to be freaking out to benefit from a chill pill. Apologies if my comment came off that way. I just want you to have a good day

2

u/mattberry1980 Apr 01 '23

Telling someone to read the rules and demand they take a chill pill. How else would it come off? Lol

2

u/FluidWitchty Apr 01 '23

Demand is a strong word considering we can all read the comment thread.

1

u/Suspicious-Side6407 Apr 01 '23

Cool video to see wildlife interacting and understanding with humans… but doesn’t belong on this sub

3

u/Gronx-quately89 Apr 01 '23

Read the stickied post and chill

1

u/Administrative-Age77 Apr 01 '23

I was waiting for it to headbutt her, glad it didn't happen, slightly disappointed tho

1

u/dba1990 Apr 01 '23

She’s now a Disney character. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/kittenshart85 Apr 01 '23

any video of a person is now a public freakout.

0

u/kobeflip Apr 01 '23

She bows terribly. And I’m freaked out by it.

-3

u/crimshaw83 Apr 01 '23

I'm conflicted. This 10000% does not belong on this sub, but ill be damned if it ain't cute as the dickens

0

u/7thPwnist Apr 01 '23

Literally the opposite of a freakout

0

u/The_Soup_Dealer Apr 02 '23

Yea until she gets gorged when the deer thinks she’s competing for females….

1

u/BakeAct Apr 01 '23

She is a Disney princess now

1

u/throwaway_dontmindme Apr 01 '23

I love Nara Japan. I have a few videos like this of the deer bowing, it’s a fascinating experience

1

u/foxtrotuniform6996 Apr 01 '23

Ever catch an antler to the eye socket ?

1

u/ElementalWheel Apr 01 '23

The real public freak out is in the comments

:)

1

u/The_Soup_Dealer Apr 02 '23

You ain't kidding😅

1

u/Battlecrashers12 Apr 01 '23

Can you do that with a deer in the states? Like maybe after bowing a few times the deer will just copy us? What do you feed deer?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '23

Nah deer here are too afraid of getting shot at

1

u/Mental_Aspect6366 Apr 01 '23

I would have freaked out if the anglers picked up. her skirt.!

1

u/GoodNewsGoose420 Apr 02 '23

People need to learn the definition of words?? Like how is this a public freak out. Oh wait it's not??

1

u/Revolutionary-Bar-93 Apr 02 '23

I find that deer profiling

1

u/Pittedstee Apr 02 '23

Trained for the treats.

1

u/ObscureParadigm Apr 02 '23

The other deer sees the buck being fed by human contact, then moves closer to the human closest to expect the same.

1

u/Lajic Apr 02 '23

Wrong sub bro

1

u/WasteFuel9442 Apr 02 '23

You literally don't even need to initiate it in nara, they will walk up to you and bow and then immediately start smelling your pockets and watching your hands. It's like a crowd of little headbangers at a metal show, and also much like a metal show, they all want to eat a cookie right now.

1

u/Gravastorm1986 Apr 02 '23

That is a real-life Disney princess.

1

u/the_aussieguy Apr 02 '23

"Now he might just let ya ride him" Slaps deers ass

1

u/GatorTheCatt Apr 02 '23

She’s a princess.. that’s the only way

1

u/comochingas69 Apr 03 '23

Not sure Japanese bowing to a deer is the wisest choice

1

u/314-bakedboss999 Apr 06 '23

this has nothing to do with the subreddit, whoever posted this is fuckin stupid

1

u/rSpinxr Apr 28 '23

Oh wow I was thinking she was about to get headbutted in challenge...

1

u/DramaQueen100 Apr 29 '23

Those horns were so close to her eyes

1

u/del787b 13d ago

Yup Nara japan been there is awesome
