Interesting that Obama has chosen to spend his latter years dubbing commentary over youtube videos.

I thought it was Dwayne Johnson at first, then Obama.

Is it actually Obama? Sounds like him but doubt it is.

19

u/samdeed Apr 01 '23

I doubt he would say "His mama didn't raise no fool, so of course he came here to ace this shit".

Never thought AI would take his retirement work away like that, he probably would've enjoyed saying that

1

u/meltingslurpee Apr 01 '23

It sounded like agent 47 at certain times

1

u/Steemboatwilly Apr 02 '23

He’s aced that shit!

"Iridocyclitis."

AI voicing is getting pretty damn good.

I think they are just spamming old videos at this point. This sub is dying.

Why isnt the k silent? English is weird

15

u/chewbaklava Apr 01 '23

I'll try to give an answer. English is more or less a combination of Latin (via French) and Germanic languages. Because of that, we've developed our strange and confusing spellings and inconsistent pronunciations as the two roots battled for dominance throughout the medieval era while the language developed in Britain.

We inherited the Kn from the Germanic root of English, and in fact the K was not silent for many, many years in the early stages of English's development. For example, the work knight used to be pronounced with the K and sounded the K-nicht.

This word for instance is a Yiddish loan-word of Germanic origin, so therefore the K will be pronounced.

u/Hugh_Jazz12 Apr 01 '23

Great explanation!

3

u/redalert825 Apr 01 '23

Because English is not it's language of origin.

u/FightTheFuture3 Apr 02 '23

Are you joking? I heard the word a “k” naidel with an obvious “k” sound at the beginning. I don’t think the word was “naidel” and just had a silent k. Unless I’m missing something, not trying to be a jerk, just wasn’t sure if your kidding

the vid could do without the AI Obama commentary... Almost all videos posted here are ruined by the tiktok AI voice, terrible music, or over top foley of a decade old video clip

Ehh, deepfakes are boring af. Hope there isn't a flood of this shit in this sub.

9

u/lazergoblin Apr 02 '23

I'm really glad other people feel the same way. All of these "president dubs" are extremely low tier comedy imo

2

u/Practical_Director13 Apr 02 '23

The internet will be very boring to you in the near future.

4

u/Bismark60 Apr 01 '23

Gracious in victory, humble in defeat. That's what my marching band teacher taught me.

Good job kid!

3

u/LemonFlavoredMelon Apr 01 '23

Kid up there like "Yeah, I'm a god to them."

2

u/cfinoh Apr 01 '23

Ain't?

You know it’s an AI voice right?

My man's just waiting for his next word

2

u/iknowbirdlaws Apr 02 '23

Is this going to be a new theme for 2023. Videos with famous people now narrating them with voice Ai? Ugh 😑

2

u/OrchidDismantlist Apr 02 '23

He is a vibe lol

2

u/Tankreas Apr 02 '23

We will be celebrating by letting go of 100,000 bees into the arena.

2

u/WhyDoIHaveRules Apr 02 '23

I never understood spelling-bees. Like what is so impressive about memorising how to spell words? Maybe it’s because I’m dyslexic, but I don’t see the appeal, or or usefulness of this.

2

u/SpunkyTheIncapable Apr 02 '23

Is that obamba?

2

u/Z_a_l_g_o Apr 02 '23

Wait till the audience discovers a dictionary.

4

u/RiggityRyGuy Apr 01 '23

This kid is cool as fuck

3

u/22Burner Apr 01 '23

That doesn’t seem like a “final round” difficulty word

1

u/Your-Moms-hole Apr 01 '23

Low-key that word sucks and isn’t very hard to begin with and that’s the word he won with so that’s why he’s underwhelmed

u/FuhzyFuhz Apr 01 '23

I miss Obama

Do y’all ever think some of these mf so good as spelling that if they actually misspelled a word it should be changed in the dictionary to their way
