I was informed in January that my position at a school would not be there the next school year. I did not resign, but now they want a resignation notice. What do I say back to her? I don’t want to be rude but I also don’t want to be screwed over if i cant find another job by the end of the summer and need unemployment.

Priceless rejection of a two week notice!

8.8k Upvotes

My daughter has been planning on turning in her resignation at her job for some time with today being the day. She combed through the employee handbook for any policies and found out all policies were surrounding PTO payout. Anyway, she typed up a resignation letter, walked into her bosses office, and had the talk. She called me and told me her boss wouldn’t take her notice (no reason given) so she went back to her desk and emailed her manager (her boss) and her director (boss’s boss) her resignation. She said in her email that two weeks from Friday would be her last day. About an hour later someone from HR comes up to her and asked her to clean out her desk and leave immediately. Since she thought this might happen, she cleaned out out her desk last week. As she was being walked out her boss had the balls to ask if she had time for a few questions about her workload before she left. She said, “too late, you rejected my two week notice, see what you get?” She kept walking and is hoping to start her new job next Monday.

Boss is about to take a 2 month vacation while leaving employees like myself severely understaffed and underpaid

He's gonna get a big surprise when he comes back and not a thing was done because I'm gone. Since he likes to leave me alone to take care of everything every day, I'm not gonna show one ounce of regret when I walk out and leave him to take care of all customers / repairs / phone calls / deliveries / etc. Fuck it, im out

Edit: This man makes 5x my salary, owns three homes (rents out 2 of them), and barely does anything all fucking day. He sits on his computer watching YouTube videos of stupid shit like Joe Rogan and Jake Paul, and whenever he is outside, its just to tell me how I'm doing things wrong or to micromanage so he feels useful. No, I'm not gonna work the next two months youre gone, I'm gonna do exactly what he does.. Minus Joe Rogan and Jake Paul. Have a great vacation (after you denied everyone else theirs) Mr. Boss Man, cause youre totally fucked when you come back LOL

No one is everyone. Everyone can’t be wrong. Maybe business owners and upper management types need to get accustomed to what labor is accustomed to, which is less pay, so they can afford employees. If you really can’t afford to pay your people then maybe you don’t have a real business, you fakers.

Why do some employees work so hard when there is no reward?

Ok so I am a broke college student. I was using a coupon to buy yogurt at Target. This is my second time using the coupon, and I know it works.

I went to a cashier, and he scanned the yogurt. Then, I gave him my $1 off coupon. He looked at it and refused to scan it, claiming that the coupon was for the wrong product. I insisted that it was the right product and that it had worked before. I thought he might be confused because the coupon's picture was different, but the fine print specified the right product. However, he repeated that it was the wrong product and refused to scan it.

I once again assured him that it was the right product and pointed out the fine print. I urged him to try scanning the coupon. Finally, he scanned it and the coupon worked. But then, he reversed his statement and insisted that the coupon was still for the wrong product.

I reminded him that he had just scanned it and it had worked. Nonetheless, he told me to use the self-checkout if I wanted to use the coupon. So, I headed to the self-checkout, and sure enough, the coupon worked there. At Target, you're supposed to give the coupon to the cashier after the transaction. Then, that same cashier came over, took the coupon, and returned to his checkout.

What was the point of all that? We are both poor, and I'm just trying to save $1. I have no idea what he gained from not scanning the coupon. I don't think he was going to get fired over a coupon. Sheesh.

It has always baffled me why the companies I work for think i give a shit about their profits.

20.3k Upvotes

Most companies i've worked for over the years will have a town hall meeting to go over the prior quater/year/whatever. They talk about the millions the company has made and thank us for being a part of that.

I don't see a dime of that money since we miss our metrics for bonues almost all the time (rigged system). But even if we did get every bonus it would be 200 a quarter before tax which in our current economy is basically jack shit.

They wonder why we don't get excited when they go over the numbers. Maybe it's because we're all living paycheck to paycheck while your turning record profits again.

Teaching the children early that their life will never be anything other than spending every free waking moment working I guess.

Because I guess the 1-2 hours we spent every got damn night over the course of the damn school year wasn’t enough right. I know this isn’t necessarily “work related” but all I can see this as, is preparation to “work until your fingers grind down to bone and your eyes bleed from lack of sleep”. I know I’m being a little dramatic but DAMN. The child is 6 dammit. SIX. He’s only going into second grade this coming year. Can kids even enjoy their damn summer anymore??? Rant over. 😵‍💫😵😤😒😡🤬

The “two week notice” concept is BS

Most jobs do not give you a two week notice or any sort of notice at all. Many people get let go on a Friday afternoon and by Monday, their access is revoked.

If one works at one of those companies, “Friday” notice should be good enough from the employees side.

YMMV if you need them for a recommendation, but respect and etiquette should be a two way street.
