Are the Timberwolves announcers always so low-energy?

2

u/Rahnamatta Heat Apr 01 '23

Sir, this is a Clippers game thread.

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Kawhi was +12

Powell -31

+43 differential

Dillon Brooks dagger 😈😈😈

3

u/coachketchup Clippers Apr 01 '23

Our schedule is so fucking dumb. We spend most of the season 1 week of games ahead of every other team and then end the season with 2 back to backs one week apart right before playoffs

2

u/RippedHookerPuffBar Clippers Apr 01 '23

Like PG said we haven’t had a chance to really practice much until recently because of our stupid ass schedule. They’re trying to reduce travel times but I’m not sure they thought it all out. Less games in the season would fix it.

u/InfernoidsorDie [MEM] Zach Randolph Apr 01 '23

Game of runs

Geez that was a reckless foul by jjj

-4

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Westbrook just needs to play with all role players. He'll get his stats, but everyone in that lineup will play like shit.

He's on pace to be in China like cousins and John wall. I'm surprised he made it this far.

Winning a playoff series with Westbrook as starter is like hitting a billion dollar lottery at this point. Lue needs to be fired for starting him. Why didn't you use him like you used wall because he's you're buddy? Fired I hope

1

u/RippedHookerPuffBar Clippers Apr 01 '23

Bruh i know you’re mad but he’s been way better than Reggie or John wall

-2

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

I'm over the guy

He'll never start on a team better then .500

Ever again

He'll be lucky to play again off the bench.

Jazz cut him like he was a bum

Basically the DeMarcus cousins of point guards, doesn't know how to adapt his game as he ages. look at the Lakers without him.

1

u/RippedHookerPuffBar Clippers Apr 01 '23

The lakers are a completely different team, and they totally changed their roster since the trade deadline - bad take.

Demarcus cousins can barley run down a basketball court.

Our entire fucking team played like shit today, every single person on the team played sloppy and made bad decisions.

We are without PG and essentially rested kawhi.

Russel won us the last game.

You want to blame someone? Blame are sorry ass centers, yeah Zubac has some good plays but we are absolute dog shit in the paint.

You can put this all on one player, especially one who is playing with energy while 4/5 guys are moving in slow motion.

-3

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Nope, you're wrong dude I'm sorry.

Westbrook can't go anymore, he was replaced by random role players with Lakers.

He's similar to cousins in how he has never adjusted his game as he aged and doesn't know how to play with stars. So basically all he can do is lead like 38-40 type teams to play ins like his wizards days. He has no business on any contender type team. Five teams in five years and a minimum salary never happens if you're good.

1

u/RippedHookerPuffBar Clippers Apr 01 '23

The lakers picked up 4 solid guys that transformed the way their team plays basketball, gtfoh with ā€œrandom ass role playersā€.

What are we supposed to do as a team then? Half of our scorers don’t facilitate, and prefer to iso into difficult shots. On defense we don’t really have many intense defenders outside of Kawhi & RoCo. The pace can get so slow that defenses can set on us every single play. We picked Russ up because he was cheap and helped fill a void we have on this team. This isn’t related to Russ, but our paint defense is so fucking bad. Every single game they just drive us into the ground. If we aren’t hitting 3s at a good clip we lose games.

-1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

They picked up 4 role players to transform into a much better winning product then Westbrook can deliver.

We picked up Westbrook and tanked, can't even go .500 or win when kawhi scores 40+ points.

Westbrook is a black hole on any team, he particularly has terrible synergy with our best player kawhi. Westbrook is one of those guys who only knows how to play one way and can't adapt as he ages, just like wall and cousins. Westbrook also turns it over too much and is a terrible shooter. Just way too much black holes that you can't have on any title contender or good team. Durant or harden or lebron couldn't win with him and kawhi hates him already.

It's time to take Westbrook out of the starting lineup or shut kawhi's season down, tired of the clown show.

3

u/RippedHookerPuffBar Clippers Apr 01 '23

Yeah bro you’re just mad we lost šŸ˜‚

0

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

We took kawhi out with 2 mins left in the first quarter and didn't score a fg the rest of the quarter.

Just worried about that second unit, they can't defend or score.

Westbrook is being wasted away in the starting lineup when that's kawhi's unit, when Westbrook should be making himself useful in the second unit without kawhi. That's the only way Westbrook will do ok, on the bench without kawhi.

3 stooges is what pissed me off the most tonight. Powell, plumblee and bones

Powell has returned and fked things up once again.

Plumblee plays defense like he's watching the game on TV

Bones was probably the worst per minute player impact in the nba NBA with Denver and went back to his old ways tonight.

I hate to say it but Marcus Morris is taking one of these stooges bench spot because he's not even as bad as how they played today.

1

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

Oh still shiting on other players while kawhi sit in the 2nd? LOL

-1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Kawhi builds a 20 point lead by himself and it's blown in a blink of an eye when he leaves the court.

Shades of the 2017 WCF

1

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

1

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

I get it. Your golden boy had a rough game and this fuel your jealousy of PG, nobody to blame rn?

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

If George actually won some games this season when kawhi sat out.

If George didn't recruit Westbrook

If George didn't get injured vs okc

I blame George for most our problems. I wish he was Jimmy Butler instead. He's afraid to win, it's sad.

Westbrook trick ya'll man.

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

No one should let Westbrook off the hook, he was absolutely f'n terrible tonight. Needs to run that bench unit and has no business starting when he's a 700k washed up journeyman.

2

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

Few hours ago, you want westbrook to have a run with ur golden boy kawhi and throw PG coz kawhi can win without him? How the tables turn

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Kawhi was the reason they built a 20 point lead in the first quarter.

Then Lue ran with an all bench lineup

1

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

Wut?? It was good ball movement and russ finding teammates and making their shots. Kawhi played like a role player

1

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an announcer get mad about reading an advertisement that was hilarious

3

u/InfernoidsorDie [MEM] Zach Randolph Apr 01 '23

Most stacked backcourt in the league.

3

u/maxxor6868 Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

Ngl I trust Bane + our bench more than our starters sometimes. We were neck and neck in the third and then we put the bench back in and BOOM.

3

u/muddyklux Apr 01 '23

I mean that group consists of Tyus, Bane, Kennard with a hint if Jarren. They all can shoot and drive. Great spacing

2

Don't forget about Big Boy Rhody/ Clarke (get well soon). A team of fighters and shooters

1

6

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Just play the starters all 40 minutes a game outside of batum and Westbrook, you give half their minutes to Mann and Roco. Don't play anyone else and live with the results. Nobody gives a shit about fatigue with 3 games left.

6

u/Overall-Palpitation6 Apr 01 '23

He's not Most Improved, but Santi Aldama is one of the most improved players in the league this year.

5

u/muddyklux Apr 01 '23

Big leap from last year

2

u/maxxor6868 Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

Look I be honest I don't watch clipper games but is Powell always like this? If so why the heck is he still in the game? Why doesn't Ty just bench him? I swear in made like only one shoot the last five minutes of the quarter

1

u/clayfu Clippers Apr 01 '23

He’s shooting for well but his real issue is he’s a monster negative on defense. A simple rotation or screen just removes him completely

1

u/maxxor6868 Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

That is true. His defense is a big pain point but his shooting more than makes up for it in my opinion. With JJJ and hopefully Steven Adams back at some point we can adjust our rotations

6

u/Responsible_Ad_7523 Apr 01 '23

how you do you go from up 20 to down 20 lmao.

2

u/rexizqt Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

1

u/UrrFive Apr 01 '23

Free throw count was 11 to 3 clippers in the first quarter. Since then it's 3 to 13

0

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

People will blame Morris, kennard, Westbrook or even our stars.

But from my view, most of this seasons losses have come because Powell. He's short and has really low IQ, bad combo I guess but I can't fully explain or understand why he's so shitty.

1

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

Haha now its powell

0

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Check my posts on clippers reddit all first half of season I wanted to rip Powell's head off.

1

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

Oh and you were very wrong with powell. You dont know bout basketball and just rely on recency bias. You even called powell to be the 2nd star behind kawhi when PG was having a knee problem. LOL

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Powell has had his moments but he has been an extremely negative player all season. It don't matter who you pair up with him, he's a negative.

And your guy George brought in Westbrook and then quit on his ass and left kawhi to deal with him. Biggest coward shit I've ever seen.

1

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

Even when pg is dealing with a hyper extended knee youre still jealous of him? Do you wish it was kawhi who was recklessly hit by Dort, coz youre acting insecure LOL

1

3

u/Overall-Palpitation6 Apr 01 '23

Brevin Knight on the Grizzlies broadcast earlier, after a Powell dunk:

"You don't think 'athleticism' when you see Norm Powell. Too heavy."

3

u/SuckMyLonzoBalls Clippers Apr 01 '23

He just came back from injury

0

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Powell is having arguably the worst season of all time for a 25 minute/15ppg player.

When he's gone, we look like a boarderline contender.

When he's here, we're the worst team in the league.

Damn cancer, can't figure out why he's so bad.

1

u/Overall-Palpitation6 Apr 01 '23

I'd actually say Powell is the same player he's always been. If you're actually watching him regularly now, rather than just looking at the stats and percentages (which on paper, always look good), then you realise why he's always been just a 6th man/fringe starter type, and isn't really that good.

0

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

He somehow had pretty good impact in 2020 with raptors.

And he was +16 with kawhi during the title run.

Only thing that confuses me. But ya I watched him all season and he sucks.

1

u/Overall-Palpitation6 Apr 01 '23

His impact and number were pretty much the same with the Raptors. Individual plus-minus isn't especially meaningful, and Powell's contributions were overrated by having a better team around him and the Raptors winning. He's not a bad player, but he's not a star either.

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

His net rating with raptors in 2020 was +4.6 which is pretty damn good

And with Portland in 2021 it was +5.4

From NBA.com

But since he got paid, his brain just turned off.

2022 with Portland he was -8.3

This year he's -3.9

Won a ring and got paid, now he's just braindead and tries to score every touch and doesn't give a shit about anything else I guess.

1

u/Overall-Palpitation6 Apr 01 '23

Yet his per game/per minute numbers and shooting percentages are pretty much the same across the board, so what's he really doing differently for their to be such a wild differencein net rating? Could it be that net rating is moreso a measure of team results and score when you happen to be on the court, rather than a good measure of individual play?

1

u/UrrFive Apr 01 '23

He kills the rthym or everyone else on the team as they sit and watch him iso ball on mediocre efficiency. If he touches the ball on the possession the possession either dies immediately or he scores, no ball movement.

0

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Yeah. He's a good shooter and pretty efficient, which can fool the casual eye.

But he's a huge ball stopper, plays stupid, no defense. Which are all traits of losing basketball despite good shooting and efficiency. He's also undersized at sg. Idk what got into him this season, he thinks he has to score every time he touches the ball. Maybe he has always been like that idk. Nick nurse was smart enough to cap him at 15 minutes.

3

u/maxxor6868 Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

Really surprise you guys kept Powell over Kennard. Maybe Dillion rubbing off on him, but I love his confidence to just shoot the three and bank it.

2

u/cancercureall Supersonics Apr 01 '23

Regular Russ is back. That last game was crazy. lol

1

u/SuckMyLonzoBalls Clippers Apr 01 '23

Gonna just chalk this one up as a loss without kawhi or EJ in the second half

1

u/beanakajulian33 Warriors Apr 01 '23

What happened to kawhi?

5

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

I knew it was a massive mistake to pick Powell over kennard. All the impact stats pointed to kennard all season. And kennard took a dump on him today.

Why does Powell suck so much. He was decent in Toronto. He just needs to be out there with great defensive players only I guess.

1

u/watdapau [IND] Paul George Apr 01 '23

You didnt know nothing. Powell is a top 6th man candidate. Tell your golden boy to finish a game

1

u/clayfu Clippers Apr 01 '23

Lue must be purposely losing with these lineups riding powell so hard with another deficient defensive guard

1

u/RippedHookerPuffBar Clippers Apr 01 '23

We are playing very lazy. The refs gave us a chance to build a good lead and we blew it.

2

u/RippedHookerPuffBar Clippers Apr 01 '23

As long as it’s a 0-10 point game we have a chance. But we keep making bad decisions, playing horrible defense, and TERRANCE MAANN SHOOT WITH SOME DAMN CONFIDENCE.

1

I keep saying if Maan had Dillion confidence you guys would kill us right now

3

u/RippedHookerPuffBar Clippers Apr 01 '23

You’ll see it sometimes, he will go like 6/7 and ball out like crazy. But most the time he’s hesitant and passes up wide open shots, it’s all mental.

3

Exactly the exact opposite of Dillion Brooks lol

2

It's obvious you have to flip their roles. But ty lue most of the time never sees the obvious.

1

Well, that pelicans game tomorrow is more important. And kawhi did build a huge lead in that first quarter, it wasn't his fault that Lue blew it.

The damage has been done after that 2nd quarter.

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Start Powell instead of Westbrook.

Powell clearly can't handle himself as a bench player because his low IQ and defense and whatever else. Pair him up with kawhi/zubac.

Westbrook can run that horrible bench unit.

It puts both Powell and Westbrook in more comfortable positions.

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

We put their three best players at -19 each, still losing thanks to the bench/Westbrook and Lue.

Extremely disappointing. We can't overcome Lue, he's a worse coach then doc was by far.

1

u/SuckMyLonzoBalls Clippers Apr 01 '23

Damn it EJ gone for the rest of the game

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Mo plumblee, Curly Powell, Bones Fine.

The three stooges need to be taken out of the rotation.

Mann/Roco is all we have. A 7 man rotation. Morris if you want to give that another shot.

1

u/Freeeecurry Lakers Apr 01 '23

The clippers have a bunch of 2 guards but the only point guard is Russ. Lue can play 4 out 1 in with Russ collapsing and dishing but lue wants to tire out kawhi and overuse powell

-2

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Kawhi/zubac were great

Thanks to Westbrook, the worst coach and the worst bench in the league, clippers suffered a -24 turnaround from the grizzles. Embarrassing

The grizz are being super physical with Russ first Roddy dropped his shoulder into his chest on a dead ball and then bane pushed off hard on that drive

2

u/SuckMyLonzoBalls Clippers Apr 01 '23

Bro we were up 34-14. Kennard sparked this comeback along with some stupid turnovers and bad shot selection

3

u/WarmSlime666 Vancouver Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

des has ice in his veins. and that roddy poster was disgusting

5

u/RespektSouls Apr 01 '23

Damn the grizzlies bench came in cooking and the clippers bench sold heavily 😭

Tale of two quarters

u/Freeeecurry Lakers Apr 01 '23

Clips need to wait till brooks comes back in to start shooting

Game of runs

1

u/InfernoidsorDie [MEM] Zach Randolph Apr 01 '23

Exactly

2

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

A 20 point lead blown with a blink of an eye because of lue's midget all bench lineup.

You ain't coming back from that barring a miracle.

1

u/Freeeecurry Lakers Apr 01 '23

Russ please drive the ball

4

u/alfentazolam Warriors Apr 01 '23

Nard truthers giddy. Why's he got so much space out there? šŸ¤·šŸ» Keep feeding the big dog.

3

u/FlashFan124 Vancouver Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

Adding Luke Kennard off the bench on the #1 paint scoring team in the NBA that also has Desmond Bane can be kind of ridiculous.

I know Luke’s feeling himself tonight cause he took a shot from inside the arc lmao

4

u/rexizqt Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

That was nasty.Less go Rodddy

3

u/Freeeecurry Lakers Apr 01 '23

That was a good dunk

1

u/alfentazolam Warriors Apr 01 '23

That Clippers blown double digit lead stat is brutal

1

u/clayfu Clippers Apr 01 '23

Nothing lue loves more than putting in stupid lineups.

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Still can't believe Lue and the bench blew the lead that quickly.

Powell is up to his old ways again, bones is back to his Denver nuggets impact. No way in hell these two can play together.

4

u/KptKrondog [MEM] Stromile Swift Apr 01 '23

Big Body Roddy

1

u/clayfu Clippers Apr 01 '23

Lue doing his best to tank running a four guard lineup

A three guard lineup also doesn’t work

2

u/clayfu Clippers Apr 01 '23

Plumlee’s ability to give the ball away for stupid reasons is truly legendary

2

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Three guys under 6"4 is bad

This asswipe put four of them out there.

That huge lead built kawhi has been destroyed single handedly by lue.

Bones/Powell 2 man lineup is death defensively. Plumblee can't play anymore either.

1

u/clayfu Clippers Apr 01 '23

You can’t play two defensive liabilities at guard and add in Plumlee. We’ve seen it for months.

Born was out for awhile so we didn’t see it. Now we have norm back in with Hyland and it’s nasty on defense.

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Yeah Powell/bones is a death wish defensively.

Then throwing in plumblee with them

And another midget in Westbrook

Ain't gonna stop a WNBA team

1

u/JimmyV034 Clippers Apr 01 '23

4 guards lineup sponsored to you by ty lue

-2

u/Freeeecurry Lakers Apr 01 '23

Please tell me someone saw roddy intentionally drop his shoulder into Russ. That’s so flaky and unnecessary

1

u/WarmSlime666 Vancouver Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

tie game lets goooo

-2

u/Freeeecurry Lakers Apr 01 '23

Did no one just see roddy intentionally hit russ in the chest

1

u/Kawhi_not_2 Apr 01 '23

Lue now has four guys out there who are all under 6"4

And it's a tie game. 20 point lead down the drain with a blink of an eye. Idiot.....

4

u/KptKrondog [MEM] Stromile Swift Apr 01 '23

That was a pass to Tillman, not a miss by kennard.

4

u/spacejambroni Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

1

Plumlee give the ball to russ

1

this is not an epic start but i think we’ll get back in it

1

u/Freeeecurry Lakers Apr 01 '23

Maybe lue can play the 4 out lineup with Russ when kawhi sits

1

u/craigslistaddict Apr 01 '23

are the grizzlies tanking to play the warriors in the first round šŸ¤”

3

u/rexizqt Grizzlies Apr 01 '23

2

Back to the 3 guard lineup, back to blowing leads.

Lue will never learn....
