Somehow better in slo-mo

It gives us mortals time to process what happened.

Feels like something that that would obviously be better in slow motion??? 🤔

TOO MUCH SAUCE

there is no such thing as ''too much sauce'' if its delicious, and this one is indeed delicious :D:D

Can’t wait until we get a coach that plays to his strengths

180

u/Snuggle_Butts Rockets Apr 01 '23

One thing that I have loved this season is that his teammates are expecting him to pass. So many times last season he had turnovers that were just because guys weren’t expecting a pass from him.

24

u/runevault Nuggets Apr 01 '23

Jokic had that problem early in his career too, hitting guys with the ball until they learned lol.

57

u/Ninetnine Kings Apr 01 '23

I was a fan of Sengun coming into the draft and was hoping we would get him. I hope you guys get someone that can play to his strengths like we did with Sabonis. Playing him like we do Sabonis would be best I think.

11

u/Caesar21Octavoian Apr 01 '23

What mike brown did with Sabonis is really nice. Im secretly rooting for them as a dark horse in the playoffs. I just wish we had a competent coach that kbows how to utilize a top 3 passing big

57

u/2ToTooTwoFish [HOU] Steve Francis Apr 01 '23

Denver fans who shit on Michael Malone don't know how good they have it. Jokic wouldn't have had the offense run through him if he was under Silas.

34

u/cipcakci Apr 01 '23

Nice little MVPs you have there Jokic but you better start catching some lobs if you want to survive in the Silas system.

3

u/sixseven89 Nuggets Apr 01 '23

Welll, Jokic didnt either for the first 2 years of his career

4

u/2ToTooTwoFish [HOU] Steve Francis Apr 01 '23

At least you guys had a decent big in Nurkic who was also your first round pick that might have caused Jokic to not get playing time, Silas was playing Bruno Fernando over Jokic.

16

u/Los_Ingobernablez Heat Bandwagon Apr 01 '23

They literally just have to copy Denver’s playbook

8

u/oldmoneyblues Apr 01 '23

They all do, watch Kings and what they have done by playing that way

9

u/runevault Nuggets Apr 01 '23

Thinking Basketball did an interesting video on the Kings showing how they use a mix of the Warriors and Nuggets playbooks to create their own blend of offense.

Ah. That's good but I initially read that he fouls four players and was excited for the carnage.

89

u/sorendiz [HOU] Yao Ming Apr 01 '23

perhaps they called him for the fouls on the basis of emotional damage

60

u/do_sidos Apr 01 '23

Slapping four players in the face in a helicopter motion is the only way I see this happening

24

u/ariannis_grandttkmpo Clippers Bandwagon Apr 01 '23

Pretty sure Sengun could do that with his hands tied behind his back.

18

u/fishdude89 Bucks Apr 01 '23

The Zangief spin

7

u/Wohowudothat Apr 01 '23

Same, lol. I couldn't see how that was one foul, let alone four. Had to read it a few more times.

6

u/denverblazer Trail Blazers Apr 01 '23

So did I. The brain is weird.

5

u/cortesoft [GSW] Chris Mullin Apr 01 '23

I read the same thing and was wondering one, why I should be impressed by a basket after the whistle, and two, how did he do it, did he like push them all into a pile and then throw the ball behind his head?

9

u/Meret123 Rockets Apr 01 '23

NGL me too. It is something I expect from Sengun.

6

u/LordBloodraven23 Lakers Apr 01 '23

I m high as fuck and thats what i read and i had a scene in the head as Senguin playing running back and just straight up assaulting everyone on the court with like elbows before passing it

Disappointed

3

u/mahwaha Apr 01 '23

must be some psychological shit behind that lol I made the same mistake

1

u/CramNBL Apr 01 '23

100% expected him to bowling pin everybody in the paint right there with some violent euro step

71

Pass of the year?

23

9

u/BigFatModeraterFupa Mavericks Apr 01 '23

definitely in the top season highlights. this shit was COLD

3

u/jmoneysteck88 Nuggets Apr 02 '23

I would still vote for the jokic pass backwards between his own legs, but this is a tremendous pass

5

u/UMPIN Wizards Apr 01 '23

Lukas pass last week

51

u/BusinessPlantains Apr 01 '23

Maybe just because I'm old and on a crappy phone but I was legit faked out too. Couldn't figure out where the ball went until the dunk.

79

u/Cul_what Lakers Apr 01 '23

Man wtf! If Sengun continues to develop like this and be surrounded with actual talent then we'll be seeing Him, Jokic and Sabonis tearing up the league for years as the finesse big men

16

u/ScoobsFPS Rockets Apr 01 '23

Biased but he moves a lot better than either of them ever have shown an ability to. He'd be lucky to ever be as complete of a player as either but his potential is crazy.

7

u/IHave580 Apr 01 '23

My worry is that he doesn't develop as well as he could on this team with chuckers and ball dominant guys. Unless they change their offense scheme, he won't get the touches he needs to develop fully.

6

u/GunnerRocket Rockets Apr 01 '23

The staff is responsible for enabling the chuckers. Jalen is actually a really good teammate looking to make the right play. There is only one true me-first chucker on the team and he acts like he's the coaches son.

3

u/Deimarrr Apr 01 '23

after a monster 1st half, he got 0 touches in 3rd quarter.

4

u/SecurityAggressive47 Rockets Apr 01 '23

Cause other guys were getting hot and they won. So what's the point here? You play to win not for stats

Jokic wishes he had this spice. This is prime Pistol Pete

18

u/ScoobsFPS Rockets Apr 01 '23

Honestly such a good comparison. The old videos of Pete talking through deceiving his opponents is exactly how I see Alpi play.

You clearly havent seen jokic passing highlights

26

u/Adiwantstobattle Knicks Apr 01 '23

If I’m not mistaken I’m pretty sure he modeled his game off of Jokic, so it’s fitting.

That was like a third level fake out. Dude faked the drive to the basket, faked the look for the player on the right side of the court, and then lines his body up towards that player, and passes it behind his back to the left side instead. Dudes playing chess

Somewhere in the multiverse Luka, Jokic and Sengun are all on the same team making insane passes for open looks. Players are shooting 98% from the field (on their and against them Haha).

Larry bird like

10

u/StarWarsMonopoly Kings Apr 01 '23

Here's Bird doing a nearly identical pass, but with his left hand

I remember seeing a couple of highlight reels where there were a couple of times he did that exact pass in the NBA too, but I can't find it right this second.

Anyway, if people can compare something you did on the court to Bird you're definitely doing something right.

9

3

u/cabbeer Apr 01 '23

Part of player empowerment also seems to be less micromanagement by coaches, no way these passes would have been accepted by old head coaches.

4

u/runevault Nuggets Apr 01 '23

In the modern era where the average skill has gone up a lot things that used to be stupid are way more valid. Plus when you have players like Jokic and Sabonis (for big men passing) or Curry and Dame (for modern shooting range) is changes how we perceive what makes sense. Same way people used to believe the 4 minute mile was impossible until it wasn't.

3

u/cabbeer Apr 01 '23

That's very true, having access to all this knowledge and data shouldn't go overlooked. Players in the past, had to keep recreating a lot of what we would take for granted.

3

u/Ninneveh San Diego Rockets Apr 02 '23
