Mavs fucked up

Mark Cuban with another masterful art of fuckin up what's good. He did it with Nash, did it with Mavs championship team and like clockwork did it with Brunson.

He had 3 years of chances and I think after the playoffs last year brunson was ready to go off on his own and be that guy. Idk if Cuban was gunna be able to convince him without opening up the check book in a big way

u/spaceninj [NYK] Trent Tucker Apr 01 '23
I've been calling him a Dolan level owner who got lucky that he inherited Dirk (and almost wasted his career) and traded for Luka.
Those are two big things, but the mistakes he's made (losing Brunson, trading Nash, letting Chandler walk, etc) have been horrific.

95% of this sub as well. At one point after the Knicks signed him in FA, there were threads left and right saying how overrated, overpaid and how we were going to regret signing him for that contract. Now it's probably a top 10 bargain contract in the league

brunson and hart have been awesome, and randle is better with less pressure
-6
u/lisbon_OH Cavaliers Apr 01 '23
And we are 3-1 against the Celts. Not agreeing with that other guy that it there’s no way it goes to 7 but regular season record against a specific team doesn’t really matter much come playoffs.
16
u/bagonmaster Knicks Apr 01 '23
We are also 3-1 against the Celts so idk what your point is

Fun 1st round preview. I think Allen might be a bigger loss for the Cavs than Randle is for us. Jalen Brunson is the best player in the world when Donovan Mitchell is on the other side
53
u/King_Dead [CLE] Donovan Mitchell Apr 01 '23
JA is a massive loss, same as last year. Him and mobley basically lock down the paint
38
u/aznhoopster Cavaliers Apr 01 '23
I think Randle and Allen just bring different types of impact to their team, Allen more defensive and randle more offensive. But holy hell Brunson was unstoppable, thought the defense on him was fine too but the man went nuts. These dudes are gonna be gassed if they go up against each other first round, but it’d be a fun one too
33
u/SomeFatherFigure Cavaliers Apr 01 '23
Not only is Allen an excellent player, the Cavs have NOTHING behind him and Mobley that resembles a reliable rotation player.
Allen is reportedly just resting a nagging injury he had been playing through, so he should be fine for the playoffs. But the team’s defensive schemes just don’t work without at least one of him or Mobley out there. Not having Okoro either meant Brunson could go nuts as long as he stayed clear of Mobley.
Lopez was a -8 in the SIX minutes he was out there.
6
3
u/At6-8FromSyracuse [NYK] Carmelo Anthony Apr 01 '23
Yeah that was my point, not really comparing their respective ability but we can kind of cover up for Randle's production with multiple guys taking on bigger roles, Allen is irreplacable
3
u/Laluci [NYK] Kristaps Porzingis Apr 01 '23
Unpopular opinion but as a knick fan I prefer how the Knicks play without Randle. He's a great player, but he has very bad moments that ruin the entire team chemistry. He's very temperamental and when he's having a bad game he continues to shoot more and give up more turnovers.
2
u/At6-8FromSyracuse [NYK] Carmelo Anthony Apr 01 '23 edited Apr 01 '23
I don't think there's any doubt that Randle's production comes at the expense of others'. Whether or not it's still a net positive I'm not sure but we're definitely more fun to watch without him

Brunson was insane. Felt like he could score whenever he wanted, and definitely was hunting Mitchell on defense.
JB should have adjusted better to not leave Mitchell on an island half the time.

Also yes he was great today. Brunson assisted quite a bit and his gravity helped us a lot today.

Mitchell would easily have 8* assist if garland didn’t play.
21
9
u/Stelist_Knicks Apr 01 '23
And if Garland played Mitchell would have fewer points.... And if Randle played Brunson would have more assists.
You sure you wanna play the what if game? It's dumb
-1
u/TruthSayerFu Cavaliers Apr 01 '23
What? Garland did play.. and if he didn’t Mitchell would have more… randle isn’t a PG…
1
u/Stelist_Knicks Apr 01 '23
I misspoke/misread. You said Mitchell would have 8 assists if Garland didn't play.
Also, Randle isn't a PG but he scores points? So Brunson would have more assists (via passing to randle) ?
It's all speculation and bullshit. It's a pointless Convo. Maybe Mitchell would have had 8 assists if X happened. Guess what, he didn't.

His inefficiency kills me.
RJ Baa-Rick
His corner 3s are ok and his driving to the basket is great. But his finishing and shot creation are painful.

His finishing has significantly improved this year. The three point shooting, not so much

Mainly because when’s the last time an team won without a bonafide superstar? Brunson is amazing but he’s still largely slept on. I just don’t think we could run through Giannis, Embiid/Harden, or the Jays in a best of 7 series without running out of gas.

The Knicks really just went into the Cavs house and scored 130 to the best scoring and best by rating defense in the NBA without their All Star and hopefully All NBA I can't lie this is the kind of game that makes me very excited about our future. And yes I know the Cavs were missing Allen and Okoro but after so so many trash season I will choose to ignore that part and just be happy and excited.

Randle injury will be a major factor but the Knicks have found a way to beat the Cavs some nights with great ofense and some night with better D. It's a really fun matchup for a Playoff Series.
