I saw one recently where a bunch of beatboxers hid a speaker near a flight of stairs and made squidward walking noises synced up to people walking by. It was absolutely hilarious, and by the end I was like “Oh shit...was that an actual prank? Like, they all laughed. The ‘victims’ were a bit embarrassed for having been so confused, but they laughed too!”
→ More replies (3)1.3k
u/tiugh1980 13d ago
Yeah that's exactly what led to the beat down, not the initial prank. Dude should have just said sorry and quickly fucked off. Make use of that window of confusion. But squaring off made it super clear the dude wanted to start something, so without even knowing why that's what our hero delivered.

He wasn't expecting those legs of titanium muscles, were going to hold him fairly firm in spot when he shoved him. He did grasp the concept a little more in detail, as then 1 of those said legs, & its attached foot sprang back in recoil & strike his very dislikable face repeatedly, and 1 to leg to immobilize. He set off a preloaded response, that man had trained for long time to delivery. The fact it was on camera was a generous, & glorious gift..

Society has become far too tolerant of anti social behaviour. We've been taught to turn the other cheek or let the authorities handle it, which inevitably doesn't happen, which has lead to culture where people can behave in completely unacceptable ways with no repercussions. Sometimes the risk of physical retaliation has to be there to keep social order in tact. If teenagers knew there was a risk of getting battered from letting down tyres on someone's car, they'd be much less likely to do t for example.

So I have a health condition (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) where my joints easily get dislocated. Like it doesn’t take much force. If I sneeze, I usually dislocate a rib or two. My hip subluxates (and then I can’t walk for 3 days) from walking. I’d be FUMING if I was either pushed by someone or had someone pushed into me for a stupid “prank”. I’d be making them pay the urgent care bill for me to go get a note off work because of their stupid shit and then make them compensate me for my time off to heal.
Fuck people who do this shit.

The eggshell rule (also thin skull rule, papier-mâché-plaintiff rule, or talem qualem rule) is a well-established legal doctrine in common law, used in some tort law systems, with a similar doctrine applicable to criminal law. The rule states that, in a tort case, the unexpected frailty of the injured person is not a valid defense to the seriousness of any injury caused to them.

What prank? All I see is assault and self defense.
Edit 1: How do so many of you think the victim who was assaulted unprovoked from behind should stop once the culprit is on the ground? Time to just trust the assailant doesn’t have a weapon or friends and just let the man back up? No, you stop when you’re absolutely convinced he will no longer continue to assault you or others. I would have gone for the eyes once he was initially down. Hard to kidnap someone when you can’t see.

Pretty sure the pusher is the muscle in that operation and the recorder is probably smaller and wouldn't dare to stop someone who just whoop his huge friend's ass

You have no idea who you are f’king with. They might be meek, fall down and do nothing. They might kick your face off and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. You don’t know which one until after you get kicked in the face. Don’t start shit, and then you don’t have to worry about which one he is.

There's another dimension to this, in my opinion. You don't want to accidentally kill each other.

No matter who or what, that risk is there and it simply isn't worth it.

I remember a RomanAtwood (Youtube Blogger) Prank when he was pretending to involuntarily dump ice cold water on people during winter. Well one of the people he was approaching saw his intent and started panicking so badly he began to have a heart attack. Since seeing that the pranks on unknown people have gotten much less amusing for me.
Couple that with covid lockdowns exacerbating a decline in interpersonal skills, and you can only determine that people who still participate in these activities do so with a reckless abandon and a brazen lack of empathy.
